Hi. Piper here.
I'm beginning to get worried about Sushi because since we got here at my Mom's place, she hasn't been eating the way she used to and she hasn't been drinking much. I have only scooped 3 small and hard pieces of poop since Wednesday from her litter box. I tried feeding her Fancy Feast which she would normally gorged on. I also tried giving her pieces of Greenies treats and her usual dry cat food. It seems like she lost interest on them all together. I even tried to feed her human food, anything to get her to eat. She would try to play her favorite paper ball, whap it a few times then will walk slowly away from it. She would rather sleep all day.
Will bring her to the vet on Sunday, but in the mean time, what else can I do to help her?
Don't worry about her, there is no need to take her back to the vet maybe take her back to your normal house is all that is needed. When I had a treacherous journey from Portugal to Spain in the car then Spain to England in the ferry and across England in the car, which lasted 2-3 days, I didn't eat anything only maybe the odd bites. I didn't use the litter tray for all that time either but fortunately I did drink like normal. My owners too were worried but as soon as I got back to my old house and was left I got back to my normal routine!

I was thinking the same thing. Will go home on Sunday.
DeleteI will purr for her even so!
DeleteI would still take her to the vet - it's better to be sure... can you try some tuna water or strong smelling fish to tempt her into eating a bit? I'm sending my purrs.
ReplyDeleteI tried feeding her fish. Smoked fish. That's my dinner for tonight. I tried giving her some, but she still wouldn't eat.
DeleteGive me your email address, and I can help ya' out on this one!!!
DeleteOr if you are not comfortable with giving out your address then go to my blog tomorrow and I will have a very helpful post about this kind of stuff!
Ragdoll Mommy~
Make sure that she is drinking, and we hope she feels like eating soon. Is she too hot at your mums house? We hope she is better soon.

I think it's hotter in my place. My Mom would turn on the air conditioning unit most of the time. I really hope she starts eating again. She hasn't been drinking too.
DeleteOh no poor baby. We send healing vibes and POTP. Let's just hope Sushi will be back to normal when you return home.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Thank you, molly. I'm feeling better today.
DeleteWe are purring for Sushi and hope she will be better when she's back home with her things and smells.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
I'm hoping for that too, when we get back home later. Thank you for the purrs.
DeleteAwww poor baby girl, get well soon Sushi,xx Speedy
ReplyDeletecould be the colder house and being in a strange enviroment,Speedy doesn't eat as much at my mums when we are away but as soon as he's home he is non stop eating, but I would take her to the vet to just to be safe,xx Rachel
I think it's the new environment. When we go home later, i hope it won't cause another adjustment problem. Thank you for the well wishes, speedy.
DeleteOh, we hope Sushi gets better soon! It's very stressful to move around for us kittehs. Sometimes that stress can trigger a nasty illness... we hope that's not case.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the well wishes. She's doing better now. I hope she's not sick at all or something. I hope it's just the environment and that we we get back home, she'll be back to normal.
DeleteAw:( sending lots of prayers and pawsitive husky woooos, hope Sushi gets better very soon!
ReplyDeleteRA
Thank you, dear.

Thank you for the purrs...
DeleteHi Sushi! Please feel better soon! Maybe it's just the travel?
ReplyDeleteI think it is, William.
DeleteOh Sushi, so sorry to hear that. It may be more stress-related for not being at home than being sick. It might be better to take her home rather than vet because vet visit can also be very stressful. Feliway is supposed to relieve stress if you can get it quickly. I hope she feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteA lot of those meds for quick relief are not available here. That's sad, i know. I hope Sushi will be back to normal when we get back home.
DeletePoor Sushi hope she gets back to her normal self once she gets home.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for that too.
DeleteMaybe Sushi is just taking longer to adapt to her new home.
ReplyDeleteWe are sending lots of purrs
We're going back home later...
DeletePurrs to you sweet Sushi. I say Vet check too since we can dehydrate so darn quick.
ReplyDeleteThank you, brian. Get well soon yourself, sweet one.
DeleteOh dear.......I know that lots of animals just are not happy away from home - don't eat, don't drink water, don't poop as normal, etc.....not all are like that of course because some like a change of pace, some excitement, but others just want their familiar home. I bet when you get back home Sushi will be fine. The sooner the better though because too long without proper food or water is simply NOT good and a sign that something is wrong beyond environment. If you have a vet at your Mom's that you can get to, I think YOU would feel better having her checked.
ReplyDeletePam
There was no vet anywhere near my Mom's place. I'm really hoping she gets back to her usual self when we get back home.
DeleteIt's so scary when that happens. Hopefully she'll be fine once she's home. Have you tried giving her baby food?
ReplyDeleteNo, i haven't. But she started eating a little bit so i feel like she's going to be okay. When something like this happens again, i will put that on my list - baby food. Thank you for the advice.
Deletesushi...we due knot wanna sound like all ...ugh...but de fact ewe haz knot been drinkin yur waters ewe mite haz sum constipation trubulls...tell yur mom ta give ewe a teaspoon of PUREE pumpkin...knot pie fillin .... twice a day and purrhaps sum toona water....when her drains de can oh tuna....squish de toona az much as possible to get az much water outta it her can...most PUREE pumpkin can be bought at de groceryz store ore health food shoppe, but it must be PURE pumpkin...sendin de blessings oh st francis as well, we hope ya start eatin and drinkin veree veree soon...XXXX
ReplyDeleteWill keep that in mind. Thank you. I'm going to observe her when we get home. Will keep everyone posted.
DeleteMost of us kitties do not like a change in our routine. We suspect that is what is happening with Sushi. How much longer will you be away from home and her usual routine? I wouldn't run off to the vet unless she is still not eating or drinking after she is back for a day or two in her own surroundings and routine. Of course, if it appears as if she is getting dehydrated or losing weight, you will want to get her to the vet. Feel better our sweet friend Sushi. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteWe will be going back home in a few hours. Hope everything goes back to normal by then.
DeleteHi Sushi. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.
ReplyDeletePlease drink as it is important to stay hydrated.
If your stools(poop) are hard, you may be constipated.
Feel better soon!
Purrs Tillie and Georgia,
Treasure,Tiger, JJ and Julie
She's better today. Will keep observing until we get home later.
DeletePlease feel better soon Sushi! Not feeling good is not fun at all and I want you to have fun.
ReplyDeleteNoodle hugs
She's doing better today. Thank you for your well wishes.
Deletetry giving her some tuna and some tuna water....and as for the pooping, if she doesn't poop soon she will have to go to the vet. Give her a teaspoon of 100% canned pumpkin NOT pumpkin pie filling but 100% pumpkin. Cody uses that when he has slow bowels. Hoping she feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteWill definitely keep that in mind. She's doing better today. Will continue observing until we get back home.
Deleteand...I also agree that it is probably due to not being in her normal environment
ReplyDeleteI also think it's the environment.
DeleteSending purrs for Sushi! We hope that she will eat again once she returns home. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for that too. Thank you for the purrs.
DeleteYes, she might be having trouble adjusting. I hope she adjusts pretty soon. I'll be purring for her for all I'm worth.
ReplyDeleteThank you, mario. She's better today. Thank you for the purrs.
DeleteAwwwww poor Sushi!!! We hope she is feeling a little better today but if not we hope the vet will be able to help!! We send her healing hugs and purrs! Take care
ReplyDeletex
She's feeling better today. Thank you for the purrs.
DeleteOh no. So sad to hear this. Keeping Sushi hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for her. You can try placing several new water bowls in different new places in the house. If that doesn't help, you can always feed her some water with a food syringe. Give her a big kiss from me.
ReplyDeleteI thought of that already. Unfortunately, i left the syringe at home. I didn't expect this to happen. Will put the syringe on my list of things to bring next time. Lesson learned.
DeleteWe is purring for Sushi, and hopes she feels better soon. We knows it makes you sad when she isn't herself so we is purring for you too!
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
Thank you for the purrs...
DeletePurrs for Sushi, we're agreeing with those who mentioned the stress of not being in her home environment. Paws crossed for her, and definitely watch for constipation. Cats can stop eating if constipated--had this with angel Annie.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I will be observing her. I'm hoping for the best. Thank you very much for the purrs.
DeleteLooks like you got tons of great advice! We'll keep purring!
