Merry Christmas!!!

My deepest apology for not being able to update my blog and visiting my furiends online. Mom has been through a lot lately. She's been busy with work and is going through some legal stuff with her lawyer that's why I just let her be for now and try to be the sweetest kitty there is for Mom.

I'm perfectly fine and I've been going places with Mom. It's fun! When Mom's not too busy anymore I will ask her to help me tell you about my adventures. For now, I would like to leave you my sincerest greetings...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I miss you all so much!

Fundraising Friday

Hi Furiends!

As I've mentioned in my last post, I'll be doing a Fundraising Friday post to help care for the less fortunate anipals in my country.  I will be reposting from CARA Philippines' FB page. I really hope you'd help because just a little amount when added up will mean a lot for them.  May God bless your good heart as you give.

This sweet cat was lying weak and helpless by the side of the road when she was spotted by a CARA volunteer. We are not sure what happened to her exactly but she is badly injured with her skin ripped off. Her injuries indicate that she must have been run over by a vehicle, then left alone with a gaping wound that was already starting to rot. We cannot imagine the pain this brave cat had to endure.

The volunteer immediately rescued the cat who is now at the CARA Clinic. He named her PAG-ASA, which means "hope" --- something we must cling to at this point. Pag-asa may be in for the long haul, the healing process is likely to take months. The lovely cat can hardly walk but she can stand up and eat her food. She is also grooming herself, which we take to be a good sign. Another CARA volunteer has kindly offered to foster Pag-asa when she is well enough.

Will you help us save Pag-asa? When her photos were shared on Facebook a few days ago, we already received donations but her daily treatment will be expensive and will take some time. We are hoping you will help us raise more funds for her. Donations in any amount will be much appreciated. To donate to Pag-asa’s medical fund, please see below. Thank you very much!

Easy Sunday

There's a Pet Blessing currently going on at Eastwood City. I missed it. Mom's too tired from yesterday's work event at SMX Convention. I hope there's another one like this next year.

By the way, I will be starting a Fundrasing Friday for anipals who need help. I will be reposting from CARA Philippines. I hope you will support me on this. This is for a good cause. My way of sharing my blessings to the less fortunate ones.

Remember Paco from my last post? Here's an update:

Reposted from CARA...

First off: Ooops! There was a bit of miscommunication between us and our vets last week when we featured Paco. It turns out “Paco” is female! We’ve renamed her PAQUITA. (Yes, we are very creative at naming our rescues.)

Our partner vets at Pet Project report that Paquita’s appetite is very good. There’s a lot of improvement in her skin condition and her fur is steadily growing back. (At the time of rescue, she had several wounds and her skin was raw and bleeding.)

Paquita is a big dog and was very defensive when she was picked up from the streets. After only a few days at the clinic, she is learning to trust humans again and can be handled more easily. Blood tests have been done and if results are normal, Paquita will be spayed soon.

Thanks very much to everyone who contributed to Paquita’s medical fund. We will continue to keep you updated on her condition. We’re sure she’s going to be a gorgeous LADY in no time.

Random Thoughts

 Hello everyone!

I want to do some social duties and ask everyone to please help. This is not for me, but for some less fortunate furiends in my country.

CARA (Compassion and Responsiblility for Animals) Welfare Philippines is an organization that rescues street animals and find them a furever home. Recently they rescued Paco

Paco is a homeless woofie that was spotted one rainy night near the corner of South Luzon Express Way soaking wet and scavenging for food. He's suffering from several wounds and needed immediate help. He's currently being treated for his skin ailments and worms.

Donations in any amount will go a long way. Please visit CARA's FB page to know more on how to help Paco. May God bless your good heart for helping.

Writer's Tour and an Invite

This post has been long over due. I'm really sorry for that, but please know that I haven't forgotten it yet. Mom, as you all know, is very busy... All the time.

Anyway, this Writer's Tour post has been passed on to me by Dezi and Mom Audra of Dezizworld last August 10. Yup! You read it correctly. Meow! What date is today??? See what I mean?

There are a few rules here... Let's see...
1) I need to mention and link to the blog that invited me - Check!
2) Answer three questions - Mom will go into that in a while.
3) Invite three other bloggers to write and link - I may have to bend this rule a little bit. See, I'm purrty sure that a lot of you have already done this and I don't want to be redundant. So what I will do is put an open invitation to anycat who hasn't done this yet. Just link back to me when you do. Deal?

Now on to our questions. I'm letting Mom answer because she's the one helping me post and she's the one who's always busy... Tee hee...

1) What am I working on?

A lot! My plate is always full nowadays. As they say, when it rains it pours. That's exactly the case with me now. I still try to squeeze in some blogging time for myself and Sushi, but I couldn't do it as often as I would want to. Some days when I'm free (from work), I just want to relax and chill. I must admit, blogging time has taken a back seat lately. What am I working on now? Aside from my demanding work? Well, next week is Sushi's 2nd birthday. I already ordered a cake for her which we will be sharing with her bloggy furiends. Nothing major this year. I plan to keep it simple.

2) Why do I write what I do?

When I started a blog for Sushi, my intention was to document things happening to her as much as I could. And I guess that is still the case now. Although we're blogging less lately, I still make it a point to blog what I think is important or significant in Sushi's life. The friends we gained along the way are definitely a major bonus! What I planned to be just an "online diary" for simple documentation, turned out to be a whole lot of fun with interactions among pet parents.

3) How does my writing process work?

I write anything and everything under the sun. I write when things are good and when things aren't. I write whenever I feel like it (which is not the case now because of my hectic schedule. Even when I want to blog, most days my time won't permit me to). I write from the heart and for fun. The number one rule I will never ever break when blogging is HONESTY.  It's like what you see is what you get. No pretention.

So there. That was my Mom. On a lighter note...

Pet Express' Cat Craze

Mom, Ate Apple and I went to an event at SM City North Edsa.

Dr. Lani Acero talked about Health and Nutrition for cats by Whiskas.

I met a lot of kitties during the event, but I wasn't really in the mood to mingle. There were a lot of people around and I felt very stressed. They took photos of me. I felt like a celebrity. Tee hee...

Mom on the other hand was having fun at Fancy Feast's Cat Crafternoon. She pawticipated and created this shirt.

We didn't win (Mom is not artsy you know...), but she obviously had a lot of fun!

I also had some photos taken with the other kitties and their humans.

Hisssssss........
Magwai and Dad Myko

Shawn and Mom Jona of Pawsomecats

Till the next event...

PeeEss: I will be doing the Writer's Tour post next by Dezi.

Hello Again

Hi furiends! I hope you still remember me. I sure miss all of you, but what can I do? I'm at the mercy of Mom when she'll have the time to help me post.

Anyway, I'm all good. My paws and ears are now completely healed. My swollen lower lip is not swollen anymore. Thank cod! I'm back to normal. My trip to the vet is becoming less and less. Although this weekend I'm scheduled for another shot. That's okay. I'm ready for that.

Mom's schedule is crazier than ever. She's always out. That leaves me and my yaya Apple at home most of the time. I'm okay with that too as long as she feeds me well. The good news is Mom is up for a purrmotion. When that happens first quarter of next year, that would mean extra $$$ (Peso in our currency). Extra $$$ means new toys and lotsa noms. So I won't complain.

Anyhoo, will read blogs a little bit at a time so as not to tire Mom too much. She had a flare (according to her doctor) because of lupus rash attack. Both her legs look like the map of the world! Yuckness! No pain which she's very grateful for except for the rashes that are very ugly and itchy.

My birthday is coming up next month. I'm turning two very soon. Mom is already planning for my small house pawty. I'm a little bit excited, but not too much yet.  Tee hee...

I'll see you around!

PeeEss: Mom and I are very saddened about what happened to our very dear furiend, Sparkle. She will be furever loved and remembered... Fly high, sweet furiend... Fly high...

My New Stuff

Look at what Mom got me!

I can't wait to get my paws on that scratcher.

I love my new Kong Naturals Cat Scratcher. This won't hurt my paw anymore and what's pawsome is that it came with a small bag of catnip.

Now let's try this!

Did you see my new Replendish? OMC! When I saw this in Goro and Niko's blog, I begged Mom to get me one. We tried to order one at Amazon, but most products there couldn't be shipped to the Philippines. Last night, on her way home from church, Mom decided to drop by a mall to get me some chow. Lo and behold! She saw the Replendish by Petmate displayed on the shelf. Exactly the same as what I like from Goro and Niko's blog, but I think mine is the teeny tiny one. I got the .5 gallon. It's $8.72 at Amazon, but we got ours at $24. As you can see, it's pricey here, but we're ecstatic that SOME cat stuff we see on other blogs are available in this pet store. They don't have the Scratch Lounge though. =(

Gulp... Gulp... Gulp...

Anyway, it's my first time to taste Halo's Spot's Stew Wholesome Chicken Recipe. And I LOVE IT!!!  This 3 lbs bag of kibble costs $25.

Hmmm... I love you, Halo.  Nom... Nom... Nom...

Thank you, Mom! You're the bestest!

****************************************************************
The Mom here...

These cost me quite a bit. Maybe it's not much when you're earning $$$, but exchange rate is Php43 to a dollar. Sushi loves the Replendish a lot! She drinks more now which is good. She also loves her new scratcher and she goes gaga over her new kibble. Seeing her happy with all her new stuff makes me happy too.

=(

The wound on my paw has almost dried up. I was wearing the cone of shame for one week. ONE WEEK! Can you believe that??? I was only off of it when it's my meal time then after eating, I'm on it again. Meow!

Last night I went up to Mom's bed and she was quite surprised that I wasn't wearing the cone of shame anymore. I managed to remove it by myself. I looked at Mom the cutest way I could so she'd allow me to sleep the night without the cone of shame. Ha! It worked!

The following morning, Mom checked on me and saw two new fresh wounds in both my ears. I scratched them. Oh cat!!! You should have seen Mom's eyes got bigger and her voice was actually hurting my eardrums. She was really MAD at me!

Mom: "Sushi!!! What did you do again??? Aren't you tired of hurting yourself? Huh??? Apple!!! Get Sushi ready! We're bringing her back to the vet!!!"

I was really scared. Mom's very mad. We drove off. I think Mom thought she's driving a plane. We got to the stabby place in no time.

Dr. Henry Barbero and Dr. Maybellene Damias
My favorite doctors

Dr. Henry said nothing to worry about. I just need to wear the cone of shame again until my ears heal.

WHAT??????? Not again!!!!!!!!!!

*****************************************************

The Mom here...

I am very frustrated because of what's been happening to Sushi. I want to remove the cone off of her already, but she keeps doing stuff that would hurt herself and end up getting wounds.

I hope this will be the last we'd be posting about bad news. I just thought Sushi's friends need to know how she's doing.

Not again!

The Mom here...

Sushi's hind paw is now healed. Unfortunately, her front paw is the one injured this time. I noticed her limping yesterday so I looked at all four paws and there in front, the right one, swollen. I smelled it like I always do and I was right. That's my way of knowing that there's an untreated wound somewhere. I can tell she's in pain so I rushed her to the vet again today.

The doctor cleaned her wound and gave her antibiotic. I have to give her that for the next five days. She's hating it already, but the doctor said she had to wear the cone all the time while being treated. Her licking the wound is not helping at all, it's even making it worse.

Sushi here...

I'm not done visiting you all yet. I did some blog hopping, but I'm not even half way done. Please be patient with me. By now you know I hurt myself again. It was really painful. I couldn't walk properly and Mom noticed. She tried to clean it but I was fighting her. It hurts! So she had to bring me back to the stabby place. Mom took photos as usual.

My doctor cleaning the wound.

I'm not happy... Not at all.

My Emergency Trip to the Vet

Mom brought me to the vet for check up. Sadly, I hurt my paw again. I had to wear the cone of shame to sleep. I hated it, but Mom insisted that I should because she put medication on my injured paw last night. From now on, I won't call the stabby place hell house anymore because I realized everyone there was nice.  The doctor examined my paw and said nothing to worry about. It will heal by applying the anti bacterial ointment my previous doctor prescribed sans the Hydrogen Peroxide and Betadine.  Mom also showed the doctor my lower lip which appeared swollen. Doctor said to observe for at least a week. If it doesn't go away then I have to go back to the stabby place... He will "stab" my lower lip. Meow!

While there, Mom had me groomed. Here's a photo of me and my favorite purrsonal groomer. His name is Jay-R.

I'm not done with my blog hopping yet. I promise to visit y'all as soon as I can. Forgive me if I haven't visited you yet. I promise I will. Also, please excuse my Mom. She worries a lot. She's such a worry wart.

*************************************************

The Mom here...

Thank God Sushi is okay. The Doctor said there's really nothing to worry about... For now. Sushi's paws are very sensitive. If I can only put socks on her I will. Sushi is currently snuggled beside me. Such a sweet baby girl...

Thank you for sending purrs and prayers our way. God bless you all!

Swollen

The Mom here...

I really feel so bad because Sushi hurt her paw again. It's swollen. And I noticed her lower lip is also a bit swollen. I have to bring her to the vet again tomorrow morning. Sushi is an indoor cat and she never fails to find ways to get into little accidents that would require her trips to the vet. I panic when I google things about what I see is unusual on Sushi like her lower lip.

I am really worried...

News Flash!

Update: We got home safely that night. Storm Glenda's gone. I think she's now in China. But another storm is coming in soon. His name is Henry.

******************************

I am currently with Mom right now in the province of Pampanga, my Grammy's birthplace. We went here for Mom's work. We drove for an hour and a half from Manila yesterday. Well, typhoon Glenda hit Manila, Pampanga and some other nearby provinces yesterday afternoon. Today, everywhere looks chaotic. Storm signal number 3 (winds of up to 185 kph) was up since last night. Not sure if we can go home later this afternoon.

Mom took this photo in total darkness. Electricity was out since 2 in the morning. I was hiding in there because the thunderstorms are really scary.

My New Toy

Guess what Mom brought home for me!

It looked like a pitiful woofie in uniform.

Mom sent a package to her friend in Seattle and DHL gave her this.

So I did some examining...

Okay, I can play with you... How about removing that jacket first? You'll sweat like crazy with that on. You know how hot it is here. I don't like playing with a sweaty, pitiful looking woofie.

********************

Update on Mom: She had her check up again last Friday. Results came out still not good. She's got inflammation inside of her that's causing the on and off pain. She will have another check up by next week. Hope it turns out well this time.  Oh and another thing, a weak positive in her ANA profile might mean another autoimmune disease aside from SLE. We're purraying for a miracle. I hope all these diseases go away!

Farewell Cat Scouts

I am very sad because earlier today I just sent Denmaster of Cat Scouts my resignation letter. Mom and I had long been arguing whether or not I should stay in Scouts, but this time I couldn't argue anymore. I saw how crazy Mom's schedule is now and Mom has a health condition too. Two weeks ago, she was in pain again. Not as bad as it was two years ago when she had to be hospitalized, but nonetheless, pain is not a good sign. I don't want to add to her stress anymore so I did what I had to do.

I'm keeping my blog to stay in touch with furiends. This is a sad day. Haven't heard from Denmaster yet. I hope she understands.

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Sorry...

... I haven't been visiting blogs lately. Mom is very busy with work. She has a deadline to meet. Mom promised to help me with blogging and Scouts once she's done with her deadline. I miss you all.

Pee Ess: My paw is okay now. I still wear the cone of shame but only for about 15 minutes a day.

Chewed

I chewed on Mom's iPad charger. Felt nice on my teeth and gums actually. Tee hee...

Easy Like Sunday

My paw is healing quite fast.  I still wear the cone of shame when Mom cleans my paw and put the green cream on it, but I guess it won't be long till I totally get rid of it.
