=(

The wound on my paw has almost dried up. I was wearing the cone of shame for one week. ONE WEEK! Can you believe that??? I was only off of it when it's my meal time then after eating, I'm on it again. Meow!

Last night I went up to Mom's bed and she was quite surprised that I wasn't wearing the cone of shame anymore. I managed to remove it by myself. I looked at Mom the cutest way I could so she'd allow me to sleep the night without the cone of shame. Ha! It worked!

The following morning, Mom checked on me and saw two new fresh wounds in both my ears. I scratched them. Oh cat!!! You should have seen Mom's eyes got bigger and her voice was actually hurting my eardrums. She was really MAD at me!

Mom: "Sushi!!! What did you do again??? Aren't you tired of hurting yourself? Huh??? Apple!!! Get Sushi ready! We're bringing her back to the vet!!!"

I was really scared. Mom's very mad. We drove off. I think Mom thought she's driving a plane. We got to the stabby place in no time.

Dr. Henry Barbero and Dr. Maybellene Damias
My favorite doctors

Dr. Henry said nothing to worry about. I just need to wear the cone of shame again until my ears heal.

WHAT??????? Not again!!!!!!!!!!

The Mom here...

I am very frustrated because of what's been happening to Sushi. I want to remove the cone off of her already, but she keeps doing stuff that would hurt herself and end up getting wounds.

I hope this will be the last we'd be posting about bad news. I just thought Sushi's friends need to know how she's doing.

  1. M sends your mom Hugs cuz she knows how tough it is to keep a cone of shame on a kitty or doggie. They hate it so much, when then makes you humans feel so guilty. HUGS for mom.

    1. I know she hates wearing the cone, but she has to for now or else she'll keep scratching her ears and they won't heal. It's hard for me to see her suffer. - Pia

  2. Poor Sushi. Are you able to get the soft collars instead? Those might be more comfortable for Sushi.

Have you tried giving her coconut oil? It has lots of health benefits, including for any skin allergies.

    1. Soft collars? What she has is plastic with velcro to stick them together. There's like velvety cloth on the edge so it's not sharp. - Pia

  4. Poor lil girl! Some of us are just more accident prone than others... stupid question, but do you keep your pointy ends trimmed? Might help a bit. We hope it all clears up very soon.

  11. Oh Sushi, honey, why do you keeping hurting yourself? We are very worried about you!

We don't know why you are wounding yourself....but has your mom tried a calming collar for you or pheromones? Sentry makes calming collars; they've helped both Carmine and Milita before. And we've used the pheromone plug-in defussers made by Comfort Zone/Feliway and they are also helpful. Just a thought. We want you to be happy and well <3

    1. Those are new to me. Haven't heard anything like that for cats. I frequent the place which got all sorts of stuff for dogs and cats (more on dogs...unfair!), but still what we have here is not complete. You guys have everything there. I learn new stuff from you guys a lot. I wanted to get Sushi the Scratch Lounge, but even that is not available here. I tried Amazon but they don't ship that to the Philippines either. I wonder why...Pia

  12. OH no, so sorry to hear this. Sushi, keep that cone on! It will come off for good even sooner! One of my cats had a cone for a month and he would wriggle out of it and it was so frustrating. Hang in there!

  16. Sushi, we're so sorry you have to wear the cone again. Does your vet have any explanation as to why you are doing this? Maybe you have allergies and your scratching yourself too hard. Ernie has allergies and when they get bad, he'll chew on his paw pads and make them bleed.

We don't want you to hurt yourself any more.

    1. Vet said my paw pads are very sensitive. I first hurt my paw with my ess which Mom gave away already. Then the next was wounded again and got infected. Mom noticed because it smelled. The third one, which was the recent one, Mom noticed I was limping and smelled my footsie. Dr said I get wounded which is normal, but i lick them too much. Dr said i might be stressed too. The ear wounds, well, after I got the cone off one night, I started scratching them and there you go. I don't chew on my paw pads like Ernie does.

  17. We are so sorry to hear that you have to wear the cone again. Maybe if you got a soft one it would be more comfortable - they are like this one: http://s1.hubimg.com/u/5650336_f260.jpg
Delilah had to wear one of those when she had surgery. It was must better than the plastic ones, as it is soft and bends.
Get to feeling better soon! Hopefully the next post we read is good news :)
