How are you all? Hope all is well. I haven't been around the bloggy world for quite sometime now, though I have been quite active with my Instagram. But I only have a pawful of furiends there from the bloggy world. I miss all of you!
I was totally out of touch. I heard one very sad news when Mom and I learned about Nissy's passing. We were really sad. Nissy was such a good furiend to many of us.
Anyway, Mom decided to come back to blogging (for now) to let me say HI and to seek help from you. You see, I haven't been eating much lately and that got Mom really worried. My weight dropped significantly. Last week, Mom decided to give me one of my favorite canned foods. I nommed it like crazy. Mom was happy that I started eating again then I threw up twice.
Mom brought me to the vet last Sunday and the doctor stole my blood. I didn't even squirm and I didn't make a sound. Mom was so proud of me, but the doctor said that wasn't normal. She said cats would normally squirm and meow because of pain. Now that made Mom want to cry. She was in fact teary eyed already. I can see how sad she was last Sunday.
Results came out late in the afternoon. The doctor called Mom at home. My lymphocytes were slightly low. Normal range would be between 1.5 to 7. Mine was 1.4, but based on my body weight percentage, the lowest should be 20%, mine was 16%. The doctor said it's either there's a disease that's about to occur or there's already an existing one that my immune system is fighting. My BUN is also slightly elevated. Normal range is 11.1, mine was 11.4. The doctor said something is not right with my kidneys. But based on the results, Mom thinks I need more water intake which the doctor also agreed. I am now taking electrolytes and multivitamins to help my immune system. Mom will bring me back to the vet this coming Sunday to let the doctor steal my blood again.

The Mom here...
Do you have any experience like this? Would you mind sharing because I'm so worried about her already. We need help. Thank you!
It could be lots of things. My initial thought is maybe she has a fur build up in her tummy and she thinks she is full. She needs an xray and/or an ultrasound to rule that either in or out. Purrs to that sweetie from all of us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this suggestion, Brian. I will have Sushi undergo an x-ray to be sure. - Pia
DeleteOh, I'm so sorry to hear she is having such troubles! I wish I had something constructive to offer but I only have prayers for her, and for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for praying. That means a lot. - Pia
DeleteWe wish we could offer some insights but have none. We will all purr for Sushi.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. - Pia
DeletePoor Sushi! We are not sure what it could be. Brian is right, though ... perhaps an x-ray or ultrasound will help get to the bottom of this? Hugs, purrs and prayers...
ReplyDeleteWill do x-ray this Saturday. In the mean time I have to force Sushi to drink because I did some research that an elevated BUN but normal creatinine could mean dehydration. Sushi's crea is normal. Thank you for purring and praying for Sushi. - Pia
Deletean X-ray or Ultra sound sounds right to me,with the ultra sound they may be able to do that while she is awake though her tummy would have to be shaved, hugs and prayers for little Sushi,xx Rachel and Speedy
ReplyDeleteYikes! Shaved? Oh well, as long as Sushi gets well, the fur will grow back. Thank you, Speedy and Mom. - Pia
DeleteI am so sorry to hear you are not feeling wel Sushi. Hope the vet will find out what's wrong and put it right. Sending hugs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the hugs and prayers. That means a lot to us. - Pia
DeleteWe hope the vet can figure out what's making Sushi sick. Brian's advice is on target... maybe some more disgnostics to keep inside Sushi's tummy are in order?
ReplyDeleteWill do all the tests this coming Saturday. -Pia
DeleteIf Sushi is not getting enough water, syringing some into her several times a day may be in order, perhaps even subcutaneous fluids.
ReplyDeleteFor more potential advice, you could contact the Cat Blogosphere site, and ask them to feature Sushi's plight on the site. Many, many cat-people go there and read it.
I do syringing several times a day. I also let her take electrolyte. Will try Cat Blogosphere when I get back from work. Thank you for your advice. It's very much appreciated. - Pia

ReplyDeleteI checked her teeth, looks fine to me, but will have it checked too just to be sure. Sushi misses everybody in Scouts and Blog world. It's my fault actually. My schedule sucks big time. - Pia
DeleteSushi, Mau left a message for the Scouts in the Quiet Room about what is happening, and everyone is purring and praying for you. Thanks for stopping by the blog. We really do miss you lots. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
DeleteOh Mau, you are so sweet. Thank you for that. When I'm feeling much better, I will ask Mom to let me visit Scouts even just to say Hi.
DeleteSushi, we don't have any ideas as to what the problem could be, but Brian and Kitties Blue suggestions sound like possibilities to look into. We are purring and praying away and will be looking for your update next weekend!
ReplyDeleteI will sure give Sushi's friends an update this weekend both here and in IG. Thank you for the prayers. - Pia
DeletePete *waves* to Sushi! We sure miss you at Thundercats and Scouts!! It isnt the same without mew girlfriend! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteWe agree with Brian, get an xray of Sushi's stomach, start her on probiotics for cats to add healthy bacteria in her belly, and continue her on them. Call me if you want to talk.
((hugs)) Pete & Teresa
Hi Pete! I miss you guys too. Is Shoko still around? I know where to get probiotic for Sushi. Will call them later. Will call soon, Teresa. 😊 - Pia
DeleteYes Shoko is still active at Cat Scouts & Thundercats. I posted your post at Cat Scouts and Thundercats to let them know what is going on with mew. Lots of Scouts are sending PURRS and Purrayers to Sushi. Power of the Paw for Sushi.
DeleteScout Pete

ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
PeeEss: where awe you oniinstagram? Weez be there too. @Deziz_World
Hi Dezi. The doctor said that a high BUN could mean kidney problems but Sushi's creatinine level is normal so that could mean Sushi is dehydrated. But what worries me is that she's not eating much too. Will bring her to the vet this weekend to have her follow up check up together with Brian's and the Tabbies of Trout Town's suggestions. Will add you to Sushi's IG. It's @mysassysushi
DeleteWe can't help Sushi with any ideas for the mom bean but we is sending our purrs that you are feeling better furry soon!
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
Purrs and prayers means a lot to us. Thank you so much! - Pia
DeleteI wish I knew too...but I am purring and praying with all of my might that she will be ok xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mom Caren. That means a lot! - Pia
ReplyDeleteOh dear Sushi and Mom Pia......so sad that the first time we've heard from you ladies in FOREVER it's because you're not well Sushi! You don't look happy in your photo either little one. I think Brian is right - Sushi needs an ultrasound or some type of interior check to make sure there's nothing in there that shouldn't be in there - like a huge furball or something keeping her from being able to keep her food down. I know it's got to be super scary......Just keep after your vet to try and find the cause - something certainly is wrong. I lost a lot of weight and was throwing up my food a lot before I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism but that's a problem for older cats mostly and you're just a youngster Sushi! I do hope and pray that you'll be alright - and we hope that your Mom Miss Pia will keep us all posted - we miss you !!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy and Mom Pam
Thank you, Sammy and Mom Pam. We feel bad that after being MIA for so long, we posted a not so good news now. I'm hoping and praying that Sushi gets well soon. I hope you are too, Sammy. We love you!
DeleteOh Sushi!!! I can't help, but think Brian's advice is spot on!! Sending purrs and gentle paw pats and hugs for poor mummy!! x0x0x0x
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, Austin! Your thoughts and hugs meant a lot already. - Pia
DeleteOh, Sushi, we are so sorry to hear about this! We are purring very hard for you. Our first thought was tooth troubles. Did that get checked out?
ReplyDeleteThank you for praying. That means a lot to us. - Pia
DeleteHello, I am Maple, Cat Angel. I lived with Aspen and Willow. They are now brand new Cat Scouts! Sushi, I was only age two when I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. I was so sick, I had to leave and run off to the Rainbow Bridge. Moms is working on a book that will include my works with lost kittens and cats. I contact the lost kittens and cats and send them dreams we to help them find furrever homes on the physical world. My real life sisfurrs, Aspen, Willow, Mango, and Tigger want to be your Cat Scouts furrever friends! Please come back to Cat Scouts real soon!
ReplyDeleteHi there! Thank you for visiting me here. When I feel better, I will drop by Scouts to say hi to everybody. I miss you all! love ya!
DeleteSushi, please consider what Brian said. You may indeed have a fur buildup in your tummy causing you to not want to eat.
ReplyDeleteAlso, ask your mommy to have your furs shaved into a lion cut. THAT will keep you cool. Then, when it grown\s in, you will be ready. Please try that.
I already told her vet about cutting her fur shorter. Her doctor suggested to delay it a while, but will bring her again tomorrow and insist on giving her a fur cut. A lion cut is shaved body right? Fur only on the head? Yikes! Will that grow back easily? - Pia
DeleteHi Sushi!
ReplyDeleteI miss you at Scouts and you did not meet my little brofur Einstein but I told him all about you and he wants to meet you as soon as you feel better. The suggestions from Brian, The Tabbies and all your furends sound good. Blood coming up is worrisome so a scan is needed. Hopefully it is just a bad case of fur balls and you will move them out one way or another. One thing not mentioned do you ever eat things you should not? I know we are very smart to get in Scouts but... we are kitties after all. I tend to chew a certain type of plastic bag so Dad watches those closely until they are disposed of where I cannot get them. Einstein would try and eat just about anything when he was little so Dad did a sweep of our house. He keeps our home very cat safe but even a small something can be dropped accidentally so Xray and/or Ultrasound are at the top of the list with tooth check following.
Dad is a human nurse and asks if you were stressed before the time in the pet suite? If you were and then went there you may have an ulcer? Dad and I are not sure if we get those like people do but that is something that would cause a bit of blood to come up.
We are all purring for you dear Sushi and send purrs to Mom to help with the stress we know she is feeling.
Love Purrs and Prayers from all
Timmy Dad and Family
When we put Sushi in a pet suite, she was in heat. Normally when she's in heat, she lose her appetite but immediately gains it back after. But now, it's different. Her appetite is not yet back to normal. No fur in her tummy. Her teeth are all good. Blood test will be next week, when she finished her antibiotic and I'm leaving out of town again. I will be back on Sunday. I have to leave Sushi at the pet suite again. But the doctors there know better how to handle her.
DeleteI just hope and pray Sushi goes back to normal - loves eating, playing and hyper again.
